  14. VGA JIGSAW is a fun game of skill and intelligence.  It starts out by
  15. drawing a puzzle on the screen and then it shuffles around the pieces.
  16. The object of the game is to assemble the pieces to match the original
  17. puzzle on the screen.
  18.  
  19. VGA JIGSAW features : Keyboard or mouse support, easy menu operation,
  20. Five levels of difficulty, music, score-keeping, it also includes a few
  21. jigsaw puzzles.

  46. 3.                   SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS AND OPTIONS

  58. 4.                         GAME OPERATION
  59.  
  60. GENERAL :  To start type VJIG  <Enter>.  If you wish to change the
  61. default configuration run SETUPVJ.EXE.  The program will detect your
  62. display card and will auto-adjust the graphics.  If you plan to use the
  63. mouse, the mouse driver must be loaded before running VJIG.EXE.  Select
  64. a sound option and a pointing option.  This information will be saved in
  65. a file VJIG.CFG.  The program displays information at the bottom of the
  66. screen whenever a new event takes place.

  68. KEYBOARD: use the arrow keys to move around, press the <SPACEBAR> to
  69.           select a jigsaw piece.
  70. MOUSE:    use the mouse to move around, press the LEFT button to
  71.           select, RIGHT button to skip a selection.
  72.  
  73. MENUS :   When using the mouse, click on the LEFT button to select
  74.           items, click on the RIGHT button to exit from the menu or to
  75.           call the main menu.  When using the keyboard, use the arrow
  76.           keys to move around, press <SPACEBAR> or <ENTER> key to
  77.           select menu items, press <ESC> to exit or call the menu.

  80. TO START: After you have typed VJIG the program will start.  While
  81. ......... the music is playing, press any key or mouse button to
  82.           start.

  84. Puzzles : Then select one of the displayed puzzles.  If you are using
  85. ......... the keyboard move around by pressing the arrow keys then press
  86.           ENTAER or SPACEBAR to make the selection.  If you are using
  87.           the mouse simply click inside one of the displayed Puzzles.
  88.           Finally select START to begin playing the game.  After you
  89.           have assembled the puzzle, you can select a new one.

  91. PCX   :   VGA JIGSAW will read PCX files in Black & White, 16 color and
  92. .......   256 color mode.  The PCX option allows you to make up your
  93.           very own Jigsaw puzzles in the popular PCX graphics format by
  94.           creating pictures through a PAINT program supporting PCX or
  95.           using any scanner or Video grabber supporting PCX files.

  97. GIF   :   VGA JIGSAW will also read GIF files.  Everything mentioned
  98. .......   about PCX files applies to GIF as well.  GIF is a very
  99.           popular graphics format, literally Thousands of GIF files
  100.           exist in most BBSes or Internet sites or from your favorite
  101.           Shareware dealer. Their subjects vary from Cartoons, Art,
  102.           Nudes, Landscapes, Nature, Science fiction etc.

  104. LEVEL  :  Changes the level of complexity by making the JIGSAW pieces
  105. ........  smaller or larger.  Lowest level is 16 pieces, highest is 64.

  108. HELP   :  There is on line help that reminds you of the basic commands
  109. ........  of the VGA JIGSAW.  Just select HELP from the main menu.

  115. SOUND  :  Turns On or Off the sound effects and music.  When SOUND is
  116. ........  on you will hear a sound every time a Jigsaw piece is moved
  117.           in its correct position.

  119. QUIT   :  Lets you exit the game.

  123. VIEW   :  At any time you may view the original puzzle by pressing the
  124. ........  'V' key.  If you are using the mouse click at the bottom of
  125.           the screen to VIEW the puzzle in its original form.

  127. SCORE  :  Your score appears on the top of the screen, after you have
  128. ........  solved the puzzle.  The score is based on how many pieces
  129.           you swapped to get the puzzle solved.  The fewer pieces you
  130.           swapped, the better score you will get.  Also every time you
  131.           VIEW the puzzle, points are subtracted from your score, so
  132.           VIEW only when needed.  When the puzzle is solved the number
  133.           of Moves ( swaps ) and the number of Views is displayed at
  134.           the bottom of the screen.

  137.                        Tips for children and novice PC users
  138.  
  139. We created this program knowing that children as young as 3 years old
  140. will be using it.  The challenge was, how to create a simple to use
  141. program without sacrificing flexibility and options for more advanced
  142. PC users.  Here are two very simple rules for novice PC users.
  143.  
  144. 1) When using the mouse, use only the LEFT button to play and select
  145. from the menus.  If your mouse has 3 buttons, then use the middle one
  146. to view.  If you have a 2 button mouse use the V key to view.
  147.  
  148. 2) When using the keyboard simply use the <spacebar> to play and select
  149. from the menus. Use the arrows to move around and finally use the V key
  150. to view the original puzzle.
  151.  
  152. After novice users have become familiar with the above simple
  153. operation, they may try using the RIGHT mouse button or the <ESC> key
  154. to gain access to all of the VGA JIGSAW options.
